In the morning I read two fabulous plays by Oscar Wilde.
Later, I made lemon/lime-ade...
As well as some pasta salad.
Last minute, a friend called to let us know they had tickets to see ABT in Romeo and Juliet at the Met, but they would not be in town to use them! This is what I wore:
The ballet was absolutely fantastic.
I try not to get lyrical about ballet, because it's so difficult to capture dance through words and I feel like I always sound super-erudite when I try, but I can never stop myself so bear with me. The choreography was inventive and the dancers were suited to their parts. There was a real focus on capturing the emotions in Shakespeare's poetry through dance, which worked really well in the love scenes and maybe not so well in the death scenes. But I think that's really what connects people to ballet; when they see a particular variation and say to themselves, "Yes, this is how love feels, this is how death feels, this is how anger feels." So yes. All in all, it was a beautiful ballet and a beautiful evening.
